Orthokeratology
See Clearly Without Glasses or Contact Lenses
Orthokeratology
Orthokeratology is the gentle remolding of the cornea. Orthokeratology has accumulated several different names over the years. New names for Orthokeratology were created along the way as the process and designs have evolved over 60 years. Some of the common names today are Advanced Orthokeratology, AOK, Ortho K, Corneal Refractive Therapy, CRT, Night Molding, Vision Shaping Treatment. However, the design and technology of Ortho K molds are not the same across the board. For example, AOK (NightLens) molds are designed from a patient’s unique corneal topography. AOK is very customized compared to molds such as CRT that use less information and are usually premade.
An extensive amount of literature has been collected over many years supporting the ability of Orthokeratology to slow down myopia progression. AOK also improves eyesight for treated patients eliminating or reducing the need for glasses altogether. Therefore it is an excellent choice for children and even adults.
Orthokeratology Goes Beyond Myopia Control
Studies have shown Orthokeratology is one of the best methods of controlling myopia.
